Pleasant Grove 2.1.2016

Slow dancing in neon light combined with head rocking electric guitar riffs, Pleasant Grove captures the blending genres of country, singer-songwriter and alternative rock into one package. Taking their name from a Dallas suburb, the local Texas band has gotten back together after a hiatus to put together a new album titled, The Heart Contortionists. The band consists of Bret Egner on lead guitar/vocals, Marcus Striplin on guitar/vocals, Chris Mayes on keys, trombone and lap steel, Tony Hormillosa on bass and Jeff Ryan on drums. Utilizing brooding harmonies coupled with tantalizing lap steel guitar playing and rhythmic guitar grooves, Pleasant Grove scoffs at the notion of being pigeonholed into one musical category.

Pleasant Grove stopped by Studio 1A on Monday to promote their new album, you can catch the band Friday, February 5th at the Mohawk so make sure you get tickets while you can. You can also stream their music here on KUTX.
