Sarah Jaffe

Denton artist Sarah Jaffe has been side-stepping expectations as the beat of her music intensifies.

2008’s “Ever Born Again” EP introduced Jaffe as a thoughtful and honest lyricist, her voice carrying an underrated power, blanketing over her minimalist music. The singer-songwriter has since been leaving behind her bare folk leanings for a richer sound, her commanding vocals lovingly encased in dark pop synths with the release of 2014’s Don’t Disconnect. While this variety has also been mirrored in her impressive list of collaborators and co-performers, including the likes of Jon Brion, Lou Barlow, The Cannabinoids, and S1, what has remained constant throughout Jaffe’s career thus far has been her unfaltering ability to deliver affectingly personal songs, regardless of style.
