When legendary KUTX host John Aielli praises someone’s music, everyone knows they need to tune in to see what the king of Eklektikos is talking about. Aielli has previously been hooked on Virginia native Shane Cooley, where he mentions, “I’ve worked in radio since 1963, and over the years I have learned how to recognize talent. There was something in his sound that made me want to listen.” Cooley’s nuanced lyrics dance at the forefront of his eclectic mix of Americana that’s permeated with psychedelic and folk influences, a talent that keeps drawing new fans while keeping him busy in the Austin music scene. Cooley’s unique sound has not only earned him accolades from KUTX hosts John Aielli and Laurie Gallardo, but also from Billboard Magazine and the Austin Chronicle.
