When you grow up in Long Island but cut your teeth on artists like Emmylou Harris, Leadbelly and Nina Simone, there’s a strong chance that you’ll eventually migrate to the south… Or at least that’s the case when you’re Shannon McNally, who is writing some of today’s freshest blues fueled country-rock. After delving into her parents folk-blues record collection while still in New York, McNally developed a keen ear for songwriting and singing in a similar vein that remains reflective and often beautifully wistful.
Shannon has recently released Small Town Talk with the great Dr. John, which she’s described as “a retrospective of [Bobby Charles’] catalog of songs”, and rocked us LIVE in Studio 1A on June 21st. Don’t miss her performance below!
