Smokey Joe’s Cafe isn’t your typical musical – it’s a revue. A revue is a musical that contains no dialogue, and is made up of songs that are connected by a common theme. The 40 songs in this musical, written by composers and lyricists Lieber and Stoller, is an homage to the New York City of the 1950’s. The songs all explore love, loss, and life with a powerful musicality brought to life under the direction and choreography Kimberly Schafer. Vocalists Lauren DeFilippo, Kia Malone, and Christina Stroup are vocal powerhouses, bringing raw energy and emotion into each musical number.
