Terry Allen & Bob Schneider @ KUTX 1.22.15

The two Texas legends are performing together for the first time in five years.

If you’re an Austinite or just a fan of the Texas country music scene, you’re probably already familiar with Terry Allen and Bob Schneider. With nearly 40 albums of recorded material between the two musicians, they’ve covered a lot of ground. While Allen’s career began in the ’70s and has centered around subgenres of country, Schneider got his start in the ’90s and has incorporated sounds ranging from folk, rock, pop, funk, and of course, country.

Allen and Schneider both released their latest albums in 2013 (Bottom of the World and Burden of Proof, respectively), and have recently reunited not only as singer-songwriters but also as visual artists. Flatbed Press and Gallery has presented the pairing’s artwork with Outside the Lines, an exhibition that contains etchings, lithographs, and collages shown in conjunction with PrintAustin 2015. The exhibition is a prelude to a public concert in commemoration of Flatbed Press’s 25th anniversary. When sharing a stage, Allen and Schneider enjoy trading songs between witty banter and back handed compliments, making for a guaranteed night of music and entertainment. The collaborative call-and-response type of improvisational performance grants viewers and listeners an intimate look into the personalities of the two musicians.

You can catch Terry Allen & Bob Schneider on Saturday, January 24th at the UT Texas Union Ballroom (presented by Cactus Cafe) or you can stream them right here at KUTX!
