Founded in 2004, Austin band The Black Angels have been at the forefront of the post-millennial psych rock movement. The band simultaneously takes older genre conventions of psychedelic rock and refreshes them, while pushing their music toward newer and bolder sounds. Their 2010 album Phosphene Dream thrust the band into the national spotlight, earning rave reviews across the country. Their fourth full-length album, Indigo Meadow, was released earlier this month.
This weekend is the 6th annual Austin Psych Fest, a psych rock festival curated by The Black Angels. The band will also play the festival, which takes place at Carson Creek Ranch. The Black Angels were in Studio 1a today, playing live on KUTX. Check it out!
