Beaverton, Oregon based band The Helio Sequence has been around since 1999, but until recently, they hadn’t released an album in almost 5 years. The indie rock duo’s newest release, Negotiations, features a warmer, richer sound than their past efforts. This was the result of conscious effort and equipment change, but the root of the change was actually a flood. Their old studio space flooded, leading them to get a new, larger one. One with room for vintage analog recording equipment that gave their new record that rich and warm sound. The new sound has paid off, with the album earning great reviews from critics and fans alike. The Helio Sequence played a show at Fun Fun Fun Fest over the weekend and recently stopped by Studio 1A.
