Formerly the singer and guitarist of the Austin group Antiques, Tyler Merriman now produces and performs as Brickwaller, making electronic music with an emphasis on stark lyricism. Brickwaller’s debut release, End Times, offers a lush sonic landscape across five tracks that bookends bleak observations with hopeful energy. On “Chemtrails,” Merriman provides Damon Albarn-esque vocals and lyrics describing a world that could be the present-day or a not-too-distant dystopian future, all over the backdrop of a bouncing yet bittersweet beat.
“Chemtrails” appears on End Times, out now via Brickwaller’s Bandcamp.
