Hello Wheels: “Panhandle Honey”

Has your quiet, idyllic life been in need of – you know – some stomp? Say hello to the utmost authority on Americana-Stomp and Stomp-Folk, Hello Wheels!

This locally-bred four-piece lathers their bright arrangements with thick harmonies and light percussion (often just snaps, claps, or foot stomps) –  culminating in a country folk sound that earned Hello Wheels a spot in both the 2011 and 2012 Austin Music Awards Top 10 Folk Bands. Despite their continued live presence at venues across Austin, Hello Wheels hasn’t put out anything since a single in 2012 – only a couple years after the band’s formation and just one year after their debut EP, Baby John the Fox. Thankfully the wait is over and Hello Wheels is returning with their first full-length O Hell – to be released by Punctum Records. Following a lineup change (including the addition of Marmalakes and Still Corners drummer Josh Halpern), the group’s sound now bears more weight than the previous, more acoustic songs. Listen to O Hell‘s lead single, “Panhandle Honey” – a pleasant, tempo-changing foot-stomper that showcases Hello Wheels’ recent sonic tire change.

Hello Wheels plays live in our Studio 1A at 9 p.m. tonight and on Thursday, June 15th at the Cactus Cafe along with Good Field and Lost John.
