Sam Evian: “Sleep Easy”

Sam Evian succinctly describes his music as “an analogue dream in a digital world.” The New York songwriter–who also splits his time with the band Celestial Shore–kicks off his debut solo album Premium in a dreamy mood. “Sleep Easy” is an oasis of pedal steel guitar and Evian’s sighing voice, gently pushing country roots into even more cosmic territory. It’s fitting that motorcycles figure pretty heavily in his work. Evian’s music sounds solitary but purposeful, speeding towards a horizon only he can see. “I’m coming home now” he croons on “Sleep Easy,” caught somewhere between a promise and a daydream.

“Sleep Easy” appears on Premium, out now.
