Shadow Band is a Philadelphia outfit that’s more in tune with ’60s and ’70s British folk than its own East Coast environment, favoring the kind of acoustic dexterity that made Fairport Convention and the Incredible String Band such cult favorites over the years. Shadow Band is also perfectly-named; on its debut album, Wilderness Of Love, the group sticks to the darker edges of psychedelia. “Daylight” actually sounds like a much, much gentler take on Austin’s own Black Angels, letting the sparse arrangement conjure up some well-honed musical mysticism.
“Daylight” appears on Wilderness Of Love, out February 24.
