Nick Rattigan and Jacob Rubeck formed Surf Curse years ago in a basement in Reno. They’ve broken out of their subterranean dwelling since then, garnering a cult fan base, moving to L.A., moving back to Reno, and now they’re back with their first album in over 3 years. “Christine F” brilliantly showcases the duo’s proclivity for post-punk injected by surf rock, delivering straight-ahead momentum and energy from another era. Think Ian Curtis if Dick Dale’s zombie was his guitarist.
“Christine F” appears on Nothing Yet, out now via Danger Collective.
Catch Surf Curse tomorrow night at Barracuda.
