Sweet Megg: “Canberra (Baby Blues)”

Today’s Song of the Day comes from a Nashville artist with a global cosmopolitan background. Country and jazz vocalist Sweet Megg  began her career in New York City working the grind performing on any stage she could before moving to Paris to study jazz vocals and work the club circuit at 22. She recorded and released her first album of originals  in 2022 after relocating to Nashville. Since then, she’s married her affinities for country and jazz, creating western swing sound that delicately balances vintage heart with a modern edge.

After time spent touring with the New York-based collective Postmodern Jukebox and a stint as the lead in the Cirque du Solei’s debut country show Songblazers, she’s released Never Been Home, introducing more traditional blues elements to her country-jazz spice blend on what she calls her most personal album to date.

After a couple of Austin dates last month, Sweet Megg returns with a string of shows around town through the end of the week, and, of course, she’s playing at both honky tonks and jazz clubs.  So here’s the skinny:

Tonight you can see Sweet Megg at Monk’s Jazz Club off East 5th, you can see her tomorrow night at the White Horse, and this Sunday at Sagebrush.
