For New Jersey natives Brian Sella and Mathew Uychich of The Front Bottoms making music isn’t a job or a hobby, but a lifestyle.
In fact, a couple years back Sella and Uychich decided that rock and roll couldn’t be a weekend project anymore. They moved out of their apartment and took to the road, living out of their backpacks, sleeping on floors and dedicating their lives to the Front Bottoms. They’re so dedicated that they don’t have physical homes anymore; they’re literally tied to the road.
While on tour, Sella and Uychich wrote the songs for their second album on Bar None Records. Talon of the Hawk was produced here in Austin with the assistance of Chris “Frenchie” Smith, who they say was “just the right amount of crazy” for them.
Talon of the Hawk was just released on May 21st, and still has all acoustic/punk/rock and roll sounds fans of the Front Bottoms know and love, but there is a new energy they think more people will connect to. If you like today’s Song of the Day, The Front Bottoms will be in town next Tuesday and you can check them out at the Mohawk.
