L.A. six-piece the Sophs are true chameleons. Whether they’re throwing in some twang on a college party bop, going full pop-punk nostalgia, or, in the case, of “House,” painting a Shirley Jackson-like story of a man living in a hovel built from and on bones, surrounded by ethereal remnants of past occupants and adding more metaphorical ghosts through a series of amorous escapades. Despite being a comparatively more laid-back track than what the group has released thus far, their affinity for catchiness, despite the approach, remains.
The Sophs’ US and European tour hits SXSW hard in support of their debut album Gold Star. You can find their full schedule here.
Gold Star is out March 13th.
