The Well: “Black Eyed Gods” (Live In Studio 1A)

San Antonio is rightly considered more of a metal town, but don’t overlook our local offerings to the black eyed gods. The Well have been going strong and heavy for five years now, a power trio in every sense of the term. They sit at that early ’70s metal-hard rock sweet spot, when bands like Black Sabbath could court both terror and pop appeal. On “Black Eyed Gods,” recorded live in our Studio 1A, the Well merge occult and horror film-influenced lyrics with slow-rolling riffs. It’s a tried-and-true formula but potent nonetheless, thanks to the Well’s Austin-fried alchemy.

“Black Eyed Gods,” recorded live in Studio 1A, also appears on Pagan Science, out now. The Well play the North Door on Thursday, February 9.
