White Denim is the KUTX Artist of the Month for March. Learn more here.
In his recent My KUTX episode, White Denim bassist Steve Terebecki thoroughly underlined his band’s motley collection of influences. His song picks included everything from proto-metal and punk to funk and jazz, and White Denim has a way of wearing these influences well while also saying something completely new.
The Austin band’s particular alchemy was upset a bit last year after losing two members to Leon Bridges’ touring outfit, but founding members James Petralli and Terebecki soldier on with Jonathan Horne and Jeff Olson. White Denim sounded invigorated and fiery live at the Four Seasons last week. They previewed songs from their upcoming seventh album, Stiff, out this Friday. “Holda You (I’m Psycho)” finds the band in full-on rock and roll mode, and when Petralli bellows “I’m gonna have what’s mine,” it’s hard to disagree.
