All this week, the Song of the Day highlights ACL Fest 2015 artists.
Some songs immediately grab you and force you to pay attention. A few months ago, Wolf Alice’s “Giant Peach” came roaring out of my car speakers. It’s made for late-night drives, alternating between pulsating cool and a distorted hurricane of sound. Somehow, the song holds you at arm’s-length, blasting your eardrums while remaining a little bit mysterious.
On their debut album, My Love Is Cool, the British band pulls from a bunch of different eras–grunge, ’70s hard rock, ’80s punk–but they make the synthesis sound fresh. On stage, Wolf Alice is even better, and we’ve got a live version of “Giant Peach” to prove it. Download the song below.
