“It’s only natural that you get better at what you do as you get older and more experienced,” says Fastball‘s Tony Scalzo. With nearly a quarter century of musical experience under their belt, the Austin trio – comprised of Scalzo, Joey Shuffield, and Miles Zuniga – is still going strong. Their latest record, The Help Machine, released this October, maintains the distinctive songwriting, expressive vocals, and inventive melodic sensibilities they’ve always had, with an increased sense of refinement and focus. “When I was in my 20s, I was always trying to impress people. But now all I care about is making great music, and I think that the whole band feels that way,” says Zuniga.
