October 10, 1962 – The BBC banned the song “Monster Mash” by Bobby “Boris” Pickett for being “too morbid” and inappropriate for the airwaves due to its graveyard-themed lyrics and horror imagery. The ban only lasted 11 years, and upon being re-released, the song hit #3 on the UK charts in 1973 after the ban was lifted.
