The World Celebrates Prince

Since last Thursday, we’ve watched the entire world stop to remember and celebrate Prince. We’ve also watched a lot of information roll out about the days leading up to and since his death. The artist apparently worked the 6 straight days leading up to is death on April 21st, went and took full advantage of Record Store Day on the 16th, purchasing everything from Joni Mitchell to Swan Silvertones to Stevie Wonder to the Best of the Missing Persons, and it’s been announced that his Paisley Park home and recording studio will be turned into a museum. He also left his mark on the music charts, ending the week with the no. 1 and 2 spots on the Billboard 200 Albums chart and was no 1 on iTunes within 45 minutes of his death.

N.W.A. Reunites at Coachella

Always known for making at least one big impression each year, this year’s Coachella fest was no exception. N.W.A. reunited to perform together for the first time in 27 years. The performance comes just weeks after the group was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where they declined to perform for “lack of support” reasons so said Ice Cube. Apparently Coachella has what N.W.A. needed to take their performance “to a whole other level.”

The Story of Beyoncé’s Lemonade

Initially, Beyonce’s new album Lemonade was going to premiere on TIDAL, then make it’s way to iTunes. Then Lemonade was going to be exclusive to TIDAL indefinitely. But now, within 48 hours of its release, Beyonce’s latest album is now for sale on iTunes. If the album hits number 1 on the Billboard charts this week, it’ll not only be Bey’s 6th album to debut at No. 1, but she’ll also break her own record for “1st Woman to Debut at No. 1” on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. Looks like her only competition is Prince.
