Spotify Launches Gaming Channel

As of today, Spotify has released an entire channel dedicated to gaming music and soundtracks. The aptly named “Gaming Anthems” channel offers curated playlists (everything from the 80s movies and games-inspired RetroWave channel, to the Power Gaming rap mix, to one explicitly called Mellowed Out Gaming; soundtracks from hundreds of gaming titles; and community-created playlists. They’ve also launched spotify.com/gaming, a handy website to help you navigate all of the new content. (Spotify)

 

Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg Host New Cooking Show on VH1 This Fall

Earlier this week, VH1 announced a new cooking show being added to their fall lineup hosted by Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg. “Martha and Snoop’s Dinner Party,” will presumably be a redesigning of traditional food competition shows. According to Snoop Dogg, the show will also feature plenty of drinking, cooking, and “having a good time with [their] exclusive friends.” Stewart and Snoop’s friendship goes back at least 7 or so years. Back in 2008, Snoop was a featured guest on Stewart’s old television show “Martha,” and just this past June, the two competed alongside each other on “$100,000 Pyramid.” (Pitchfork)

 

Ronnie James Dio Hologram Debuts at Germany’s Wacken Open Air Festival

Last weekend was the annual German metal mega festival Wacken Open Air. This year’s lineup featured Iron Maiden, Triptykon, and Ronnie James Dio tribute act Dio Disciples, whose performance included a surprise hologram performance from Dio himself. The company Eyellusion has brought the hologram to life with the consent of Dio’s late widow Wendy, and intends to perfect the hologram enough to play full sets around the world with the Dio Disciples.
