The Reputations 4.6.17

It seems to me like there’s a little bit of a trend happening right now; Artists are reaching into the past to find inspiration, a past that they didn’t necessarily know first hand, but can still appreciate because of the internet (thanks, Al Gore). And frankly, some of the music in that vein falls a little short, but some of it is really really cool. Luckily for us, the Reputations fall into the second category. Thier music works really well because it’s not just a re-hashed version of the BeeGees, there’s something contemporary about the sound, something that connects music from the past with an audience in the present. The Reputations nail it with their recent release Begging for More, the lyrics are updated to deal with modern issues and the sound is a little bit grittier, a little less clean; a choice that sounds to me like a reflection on the world we live it. Maybe I’m just waxing poetic, but that’s what this music makes me want to do for some reason! The Reputations stopped by Studio 1A to show us some of the tunes of their new album, check it out below!
