Austin Band Politics Picking Up Loads of Free Week Shows

Holy smokes, I can’t say it enough. Free Week here in Austin has to be the best thing in the history of ever. How can I, your friendly neighborhood Austin Music Minute maven, help but be ecstatic over all these massive Free Week shows? It’s to the point of being overwhelming, in the best way possible. Free Week presents local music fans, and plenty of new fans, the opportunity to check out great local bands perform at participating venues for free. Yes, free. Your favorite price. That means no cover charge at the door at plenty of places to choose from, including The ND at E. 5th and Brushy Sts., The Blackheart on Rainey St., Red 7 and Holy Mountain on E. 7th St., The Parish on 6th St., and places on Red River such as Swan Dive, Beerland, Stubb’s, the Mohawk and Club DeVille.

And let us not forget the venues on E. Riverside like Emo’s and a place mentioned on today’s AMM, the Beauty Bar Ballroom. I am thrilled to recommend a show happening tonight with quite a handful of my faves: Today’s featured artist – brooding, moody, delectably dark local quartet Politics; stunning prog-instrumental masters Digital Antique; cinematic instrumental post-rock band My Education; mega indie-rock/pop quartet (with some new tunes on the way) Magnet School; and fuzzy guitar/Casio keyboard warriors Oh Look Out. Catch them all tonight at the Ballroom, 2015 E. Riverside Dr. Doors open at 8 p.m. Absolutely recommended!

Expect more Free Week show announcements on AMM coming soon.
