The Austin Music Minute is supported by Howler Brothers, an Austin-based designer of creative outdoor apparel since 2011, and by Planet K, Austin’s local hemp emporium since 1990.

Scott Strickland created Black Artists Rock as something more than just a show. It’s celebrating the future.

Black Artists Rock tonight at Pershing Hall, with Scott Strickland and Trey Pivot.

The lack of Black representation in the Austin music scene was one of the major reasons Scott Strickland created the Black Artists Rock series, spotlighting Black musicians across all genres. However, the mission reaches beyond entertainment; this became another opportunity to celebrate and fully acknowledge important musical history, and to open doors for rising artists to create their own legacies. The time to recognize, elevate and support is now.

Strickland closes out this season of Black Artists Rock by sharing a bill with songwriter, vocalist, and musician (whom Rolling Stone described as “Austin’s best-kept secret”) Trey Pivot of Los Coast tonight at Pershing Hall, 2501 E. 5th St. Find ticket information here.

Today’s AMM featured track is “Graves” from Los Coast’s LP Samsara. And below is the video for Strickland’s single “L.A.”
