The Austin Music Minute is supported by Howler Brothers, an Austin-based designer of creative outdoor apparel since 2011, and by Planet K, Austin’s local hemp emporium since 1990.
Portland-based trio (by way of LA) Blackwater Holylight felt it best to pause and lean into more stylistic changes to record their LP Not Here, Not Gone. The themes are heavy, but the menacing weight is somewhat lightened by the melodic. More nuanced approaches gave the trio space to explore the duality of dark and light, and the impermanence of life.
“It’s one foot in, one foot out,” says guitarist/bassist Sunny Faris. “It’s about how you can lose people in your life but still have their presence and energy around you.”
