SoCo is about to feel the funk and soul turned up high, and that’s the perfect recipe for a dance party. Today’s Austin Music Minute recommendation is the funktastic launch of T Bird & The Breaks‘ Thursday-night residency at C-Boy’s Heart & Soul, 2008 S. Congress Ave. If you haven’t been there yet, you’re in for a treat, and having T Bird & The Breaks providing the live grooves will only enhance the awesomeness.
You can see them play there every Thursday night throughout September, and they’ll share the bill with some great local bands at each show: Tonight, it’s dynamic rock duo The Sideshow Tragedy; the biggest, bad-est masher-up of old school country and funky funk, Mike Barfield, performs on September 11th; there’s soul-driven rock with another dynamic duo, Berkshire Hounds, who play September 18th; and the magical, mighty one-man funk/soul band Henry + The Invisibles will lay down the beats September 25th.
A month-load of funk and more? Sign me up. The music starts at 10 p.m. each week. So recommended.
