All next week, count on the Austin Music Minute to provide you with a variety of SXSW show recs, both official showcases and those off the beaten path – unofficial, but just as awesome. And, as if that weren’t enough, there are several big shows with mostly all-local bands that are absolutely killing it and getting the fest off to a great start.
Your AMM maven has a very cool recommendation for today: SX Soundcheck at Hotel Vegas and The Volstead, 1500 E. 6th St. It’s a free show that starts at 3 p.m., featuring Continental Drift, The Stacks, Citrine, Ramesh, Baby Bleu, John Wesley Coleman (featured on today’s AMM), and Brooklyn-based songwriter Joseph King opening with special guests on the patio stage, with DJ Tweedy spinning at 10 p.m.; then Bali Yaaah continues the live music on the Vegas stage at 10 p.m., followed by Kay Odyssey, Lake of Fire, Milezo, and the mighty drone fury that is Black Liquid Drop, with DJ Orion taking over the Volstead stage.
This is a lot of awesome going on here. You need to head out to Hotel Vegas now. Recommended.
