Clandestino

Following their fiery and vibrant critically-acclaimed 20-track double LP I Am Another You, Kansas City alt.-Latinx group Making Movies recently released their single “Clandestino” (featured on today’s Austin Music Minute) as a little preview of the follow-up EP, You Are Another Me, due for release December 1st. The new EP features collaborations with David Hidalgo of Los Lobos and Philthy Dronez of Sueña Tron, If the LP/EP titles aren’t indication enough, you’ll soon know through their clear-cut message – it’s an undeniable embrace of the beauty of diversity, and the defiance of oppression through creating art. From any kind of negativity, the band determinedly makes something uplifting and invigorating.

“It is an honor to collaborate with a band such as Making Movies who isn’t just a band playing songs,” Philthy Dronez said about working with the group. “They use their voices as artists to talk about important issues. I feel it is super important for artists to shed light on these subjects because there is no greater force to unite people than through art and music.”

Making Movies’ Immigrants Are Beautiful tour includes a stop in Austin tonight at the Mohawk, 912 Red River. Como Las Movies and Peligrosa round out the bill perfectly for this show on the inside stage. Doors open at 8 p.m. Recommended.
