The proof is in the storytelling. Folk artist Creekbed Carter Hogan put it best in describing the lore and lyricism of Curtis McMurtry‘s LP The Pollen & The Rot, “like transmissions from a cabaret at the end of the world,” eschewing neutrality in the face of greed and lack of empathy. Today’s AMM-featured track “Last in Line” shows McMurtry portraying the worst of the worst, a soulless cad with a flippant tone and proud of his calloused actions. “everything that I desire / paint it gold and build it higher / light a fire / burn my name across the earth…”
