Death’s New Life

Death is often referred to as a trio of “punk legends,” but they were making their music long before it had any sort of label to hang on it. The only audience was the spare bedroom in their family’s home in Detroit where they practiced and wrote songs. It wasn’t until a old demo tape from 1974 resurfaced that Death emerged from obscurity and into the ears of new legions of fans. And now, even more fans are discovering the music through the fiery documentary, A Band Called Death.

Death is currently on tour supporting their new album, most appropriately titled N.E.W., and they’re returning to Austin for a show tonight at Red 7, 611 E. 7th St. It’s an excellent line-up, featuring James Arthur’s Manhunt, and Dikes of Holland. Loud. Turn it up. Take it all in. Recommended.
