That’s fourteen years of electronic musical discovery. And here’s to many more.
The connection between the Austin Music Minute and artists Butcher Bear and Soundfounder goes back a ways. It may have started with Corduroi, a longtime AMM favorite (Oceanarium was a healing soundtrack to a rather tumultuous series of…life events, and we’ll leave it at that). The connection evolved into an overwhelming enthusiasm over the extensive iNSECT Records catalogue. Your AMM host remains undeniably hooked on this endless discovery of electronic artistry, thanks in no small part to the presence of Exploded Drawing.
Soundfounder (Andrew Brown) and Butcher Bear (Butch Webster) created the Austin-based monthly event to elevate, promote and support Texas electronic music in a myriad of ways, and this year marks its fourteenth anniversary. Fourteen years! Celebrate with this badass crew at their show tonight at DadaLab, 2008 Alexander Ave. It’s recommended you arrive early, because the event starts with records at 8:30 p.m., then a 9:30 p.m. opening set by Crystal Voyager, followed by Kilgore Trout; The Deli; Nvrsideways; Los Angeles-based producer MONO/POLY (the phenomenal Charles Dickerson); San Marcos artists Collin Swayze and Kinder; Brownsville, TX artist B11CE; AMM-featured artist Lucía Beyond; and of course, the aforementioned Corduroi rounding out the night perfectly.
