Though Local H has typically been associated with ’90s post-grunge, they never lost their signature sound moving into the 2000s. As Good As Dead (1996) may be one of their most lauded albums, but Here Comes the Zoo (2002) marked a pivotal moment for the band “that would determine whether or not Local H was going to even have a future,” according to guitarist Scott Lucas. The deal was sealed with producer Jack Douglas on board for their fourth studio release.
More than thirty years later, Local H remains a powerful presence in music, and remained so even during the height of the pandemic, when they became one of the first bands to present drive-in concerts, in addition to their successful shows streamed live from their studio space. And now the band celebrates the 20th anniversary of Here Comes the Zoo with a national tour, making a stop in Austin tonight, Tuesday Sept. 27, for a show at Empire Control Room and Garage. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show begins at 9 p.m.
