In and Out of Sight, Baby

One down, two more days to go! The opening night of Austin Psych Fest 2014 started out with a bang, thrilling fest-goers with performances by Swedish band Graveyard, surf psych band from France La Femme, The Black Lips, the one and only Zombies (yes, THE Zombies – who very happily told their excited audience that they’ve been a band for fifty years!), and, in the opinion of your most humble Austin Music Minute maven, a most unlikely reunion on stage of The Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Those of us who quite vividly remember the documentary “Dig!” were wondering out loud whether it would be possible, but fans were beside themselves as both bands electrified the night.

Tonight is another spectacular APF night at Carson Creek Ranch, with bands like Bombino, ’60s Austin psych rockers The Golden Dawn, The Octopus Project, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Dead Meadow performing. But the AMM is particularly looking forward to UK band The Horrors tonight, who play the Reverberation Stage tonight at 10:45 p.m. The Horrors are releasing their outstanding new album Luminous on Tuesday.

Check the APF website for performance schedules and directions to Carson Creek Ranch.
