It was ten years ago that Christiaan Mader, Jonny Campos, and Peter DeHart started their band Brass Bed. It’s rather telling that you experience their creative maturity with their latest LP, In the Yellow Leaf, an evocative work immersed in nuanced pop with shifting styles and tones, and rather profound reflections on insecurity, disillusionment, depression, and – of course – maturity. The Lafayette, LA-based trio’s discography is a testament to their gradual evolution into something grander, solid, tremendous.
Brass Bed has strong ties to Austin, and their album release wouldn’t be complete without a release show here in town tonight, at the Historic Scoot Inn, 1308 E. 4th St. at Navasota. The bill is rounded out to perfection with sets by Moving Panoramas and Tele Novella. Doors open at 8 p.m. An absolute must-see. Recommended.
