There’s a celebratory tone throughout the soul/disco/’90s R&B-influenced optimism of Cover Girl, the ecstatic reclamation of Lady Wray‘s journey toward empowerment, self-awareness and finally being her own boss. AMM-featured single “You’re Gonna Win” exudes the confidence of a woman assuring her lover that they’ve made the right choice, but it may as well be Wray’s own mantra: You’re gonna win.
