This is one of those trips you won’t soon forget. Consider the technicolor experience of this event: Looking Into Space It Surrounds You – A Flaming Lips Tribute, an interactive adventure hatched by the minds of Weird Destiny Productions. Amidst all the art, multiple sound systems, and trippy visuals bringing the Lips’ 1997 album Zaireeka to life, along with a double-themed “Freaks and Aliens” costume contest, there’s a wild aural feast of live music to take in.
The AMM’s Love Austin Music Month pick for tonight is a band you get to see at this epic party – The Octopus Project, doing their first Austin show in three months following their recent tour in support of the 11th anniversary of their album Hello, Avalanche!. Rounding out the bill perfectly are the fab vibes of Treasure MammaL, Ouiness and LIGHTWORKS.
It’s all at The North Door, 501 Brushy. Doors at 7:30 p.m. No need for 3D glasses. It’s all in your face, real time. Very recommended.
