Midnight Honky Tonk

Your humble Austin Music Minute hostess knew Rosie & The Ramblers was a country band worth checking out when I caught a glimpse of the band’s official t-shirt.

Simple message, straightforward sentiment: “SHUT UP.”

Granted, there is rather a genteel “please” in smaller print following it, but you get the idea. Mix a bit of wicked humor into the observations of love and heartbreak, and you have the songwriting that makes front woman Selena Rosanbalm such a standout. She’s all for love, but there’s no time for double-crossin’ losers.

Rosie & The Ramblers have been rockin’ The White Horse on Mondays at midnight for a couple of years now. If you haven’t seen them yet, you do need to treat yourself. See them tonight at The White Horse, 500 Comal, at the witching hour. Yes, it may be late for folks with day jobs, but it’s worth it. Emilie Klepper and Okie Weiss start things off at 8 p.m., followed by Jimmie Dreams at 10 p.m.

This is how you kick those Monday blues to the curb. So very recommended.
