Yes, the final night of Sons of Fathers‘ Mohawk residency happens to fall into the Austin Music Minute‘s triple-bill must-see category.
Before heading out for their February tour, Sons of Fathers wanted to play a handful of shows in January for the local fans. They love the atmosphere at the Mohawk, so they decided that would be the ideal setting for their hometown gigs. And it also meant getting some great local bands on board to round out the bill just right. Tonight, to wrap up their four-night residency, Sons of Fathers have San Marcos-based folk-rock trio The Canvas People (the track “Dog’s Blood” from their self-titled EP is featured on today’s AMM) and songwriter and fiery fiddler extraordinaire Ruby Jane on the line-up. All good.
Tonight, head on out to the Mohawk, 912 Red River. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the music starts at 9 p.m. Recommended.
