Otis Wilkins at Hotel Vegas

When not shredding as Otis the Destroyer, songwriter and vocalist Taylor Wilkins does another kind of wicked shredding as Otis Wilkins, not necessarily the quieter of the two, but bringing a different vibe in the rock-pop realm – think ’60s and ’70s. To follow up “Charlene,” and 2019 singles “Joni Mitchell Was Punk” and “Shaker #42,” the Spaceflight Records artist stepped into the studio with producer Brett Orrison to record the ethereal “Kamakura,” inspired by the majestic tranquility of renown filmmaker Akira Kurosawa‘s burial site in the cemetery of An’yō-in.

Catch Otis Wilkins tonight, Thursday May 19, at Hotel Vegas on E. 6th, on a bill featuring songwriters Rod Gator and Cory Johnson. Doors open at 9 p.m., and the music starts at 10:15 p.m.
