Taking Time

Reservations began as the project of songwriter, vocalist and front woman Jana Horn and Paul Price (Good Field). Their first self-titled EP was recorded in the summer of 2012 in Horn’s living room, during which Horn and Price played all of the instrumentation and experimented with different sounds amidst a backdrop of various outside incidental noises that would occasionally interrupt their sessions. The EP’s overall soundscape was quieter, minimal and intense given the emotional complexity of Horn’s lyrics.

With the addition of drummer Jason Baczynski (Tacks, the Boy Disaster), the entire dynamic of Reservations took on a broader, heavier range. The sound of their debut album, Taking Time, is more vast, fuller, but no less intense.

After being on the road last month in support of the new album, Reservations are back in Austin for their album release show tonight at Empire Control Room, 608 E. 7th St. This is rather a big show, featuring sets by Royal Forest, Shivery Shakes and Claire Morales. Doors open at 8 p.m. You’ll want to get there early to see all these bands, by the way. Very recommended.
