You’ve heard your humble Austin Music Minute maven rant time and again about “real country” and honoring “the old school,” and I’ll stubbornly continue to do so. We’re lucky to have extremely talented local artists who constantly bring traditional roots music to new audiences. One such band at the top of the AMM list that’s keeping it real is Crooks. They put the danger back into outlaw country, and aren’t afraid to let you know it. Honest songs with a true honky-tonk spirit.
The gents have spent quite a bit of time on the road, but now they’re ready for some hometown action. Crooks will perform this Saturday night at the Austin Beer Garden Brewing Co. (the ABGB), at 1305 S. Oltorf. The music starts at 9 p.m. Raise a pint to one of Austin’s finest, and don’t be afraid to get a little rowdy. Recommended.
