TILT explores the love-fueled crushing feels on ‘Twin Brain.’
Today’s AMM-featured track “While We’re On It,” from TILT‘s latest EP Twin Brain, calls out a maddening mind game. Can one guess what’s on the other’s mind through…maybe psychic abilities or osmosis? It’s a vicious cycle. “Talk to me / You know you never talk to me,” songwriter Josh Pelletier says, following some Carson Caldwell shreds, “While we’re on it / I need you honest / But you just stand there / And here we go again…” Of course, there’s always the angst-ridden longing contained within “Comet,” feeling a bit familiar when recalling the agonizing sensations of pandemic isolation, but it could also be any given day/week/month without a loved one: “Do you have plans today? / Well maybe I’ll call / Cause I’m just here in bed / And I’m barely breathing / Stuck inside I’m feeling lonely / Try to take it in slowly / I’m in the closet / Trying clothes that I haven’t worn in years…”
A bit of advance notice – you need to catch TILT at their show tomorrow night, Tuesday March 26, at Hotel Vegas. They share a bill with power pop/punk outfit Dad’s Home, and rock/punk/emo-ish band Rad Gnar. Doors at 9 p.m.
