Country/folk rock artist Tex Smith has been in the studio with his band – including one Mr. Simon Page rockin’ it on pedal steel – putting the finishing touches on a new album, the follow-up to 2012’s beautiful and mournful A Wayfarer’s Lament. True, it’s been awhile since Smith released a new album, but no doubt the wait will have been worth it. This is an artist who writes directly from the heart.
Here’s a show you won’t want to miss: See Tex Smith & crew perform tonight at the Dive Bar and Lounge, a great little spot at 1703 Guadalupe. He’s sharing the bill with Frenchie’s Blue Destroyers. It’s an early show that starts at 7 p.m. You’ll be treated to some excellent country, and a badass “French-American guitar picker.” Seriously. Recommended.
