Who: The Dirty Heat got its start in 2012 by longtime friends Andy Hamel and Phil Luna, who happened to be sharing some laptop recordings that needed fleshing out. They enlisted the talents of guitarist Marcus Morales, bassist Josh Chambers and synth and keys man Thrad Lee, and made their debut with the EP The Invention of Flight, and followed up with another, Don’t Walk Home.
What: The band’s been working at The Bubble with engineer/producer extraordinaire Frenchie Smith on some new tunes. Their latest single, “Empty Spaces” (featured on today’s Austin Music Minute), makes its official premiere today. And that means – a release party, of course!
When and where: See The Dirty Heat tonight at Tellers, 607 Trinity St., with Ghostbunny and Strange Fiction in the line-up. Doors open at 8 p.m. Catch the Heat before they head out on their West Coast tour.
