Rubberneck has reached a two-year milestone. Okay. Perhaps you’re thinking, “Two years? Big deal. So what?” But it is a big deal. Fans of the unpretentious badass ‘zine will tell you it carries a look and feel that’s been revered for quite some time, in a similar vein to some underground ‘zines before it.
Although a bit more polished and made more visible by an online presence, Rubberneck still captures the energy and essence of edgier music and art that’s off the radar, from a wide variety local artists and beyond.
A special shout-out needs to be given to the outstanding photography that goes into this publication, mind-blowingly awesome shots (in color and most especially in black and white) of bands being themselves.
Rubberneck is celebrating two years of awesomeness with Burger City tonight at The Grand, 4631 Airport Blvd. Of course, you have to have the perfect bands to provide the soundtrack for the evening – The Bad Lovers, Dikes of Holland and Party Girl. Get there after 9 p.m. So recommended. Just don’t leave the earplugs at home.
