Blacksburg, Virginia-based songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Jack Tatum avoids specifics when describing his music. “Synth-pop” is oversimplifying the trajectory of his multi-layered vision. He refers to his prolific project known as Wild Nothing as “a contradiction”, from the eclectic to the existential, the surreal to the self-deprecating. This doesn’t even begin to cover all the collaborative connections, like with artists including Molly Burch, Harriette Pilbeam (Hatchie), Tommy Davidson (Beach Fossils) and longtime creative partner Jorge Elbrecht on 2023’s Hold. That alone should inspire you to dig into that extensive library.
Following last night’s San Antonio show, Wild Nothing will be in Austin tonight at Radio East on Montopolis Dr. Doors at 7 p.m., and the line-up features LA lo-fi bedroom pop trio Casino Hearts. and French electro-pop artist Lou Rebecca.
