Women’s History Month showcase Friday at Flamingo Cantina, with Alexia Benson, Sofia Villarreal, and Salamander Collective.
For Women’s History Month, Flamingo Cantina assembled a unique line-up for Friday night’s showcase spotlighting the unique energy of local artists, each forging a legacy to be celebrated year round.
- Classically-trained alt.-R&B artist Alexia Benson continues to reinvent and refine her style with an evolving cultivation of jazz, R&B, and soul grooves with other genres, doing the deep dive into the enigma that is the heart and mind.
- Producer, composer, educator and maestra of both upright and electric bass, Sofia Villarreal brings passion and her pursuit of positive change to every project, blending numerous genres and textures in an endless sonic experiment.
- The shape-shifting Salamander Collective is all about the combined experience of musical performance and audience connection, where both merge to dissolve all barriers. Over the years, they’ve regenerated their energy without set lists or prearranged compositions, allowing improvisation to dictate the emotional vibe.
Doors at 9 p.m. for Friday’s showcase.
