SXSW 2026 is behind us, but for those of us who call Austin our home year-round, we know that the fest’s staying power is really in everything they introduced us to: the people in general, but also the musicians, installations, and especially the films that made their official worldwide premiere right here in town. One such is the music documentary from Director Frank Pavich (N.Y.H.C., Jodorowsky’s Dune) and Producer Benjamin De Menil – Agridulce (“Bittersweet”). While the Agridulce crew was in Austin, Pavich, De Menil, and rising Dominican Singer-Guitarist Edickson Garcia Disla (who’s also one of the film’s main subjects) came by the KUTX Studios to serve up a riveting multi-lingual introduction to the Bachata genre and its rich history – including the old guard, newer movers and shakers, and even a live, stripped-down acoustic Bachata from Edickson himself.
